Viva el Futuro!

What the hells? Every step taken to make The Movie causes collapse. I registered for a story-structure class with UCLA Extension in hopes of finally banging out a clear blueprint for the big film tangle. Although the class was hundreds of dollars and should’ve been allocated towards a new clutch for the car, I was quite excited about getting back into a workshop environment. I expected to soon. A few days ago, the office ladies called me with a calm, “Class has been canceled due to lack of enrollment.” @&!#*!! Brief rage. Under normal circumstances, this disappointment, sadness and frustration would have lasted months. Except what exactly is normal?

Physical production on The Film began in the devastating wake of the total implosion of the Midwest film movement. I secured awesome equipment, unbelievable music rights, a crew and financing and ran gung-ho towards the 48 Hour Film Festival – Milwaukee until it was canceled due to… lack of interest. (Suspect since they got it going in Fargo for cryin’ out loud!) So I melted down / freaked out for two weeks, calling, writing, pleading for additional registrees and answers. Nada. I love Wisconsin but it BROKE MY HEART. And now this. What does it all mean?

I think The Film surely must be something, something because I’m still entirely excited and pushing forward, not caring a whit. It’s in these situations that my undeniable hubris, stubbornness, and lunatic focus comes in handy.
